The study will look at the present as well as the potential future roles of high-tech SMEs in long-term interdisciplinary and transformative research such as undertaken in the FET (future and emerging technologies) objective of the ICT theme. It will also address their role in the take-up and exploitation of the results of such research. The study will use quantitative and qualitative data on research intensive high-tech SMEs across Europe, complemented with case studies and a comparison with non-European policies in this area. The study will also formulate recommendations on measures and initiatives on how to stimulate High-Tech SMEs to take on these roles. Throughout the study a strong involvement of stakeholders should lead to ideas for future initiatives that are widely supported.

This news is specially for all those Caribbean researchers who are working on robotics. European researchers in robotics, psychology and cognitive sciences (JAST project, http://www.euprojects-jast.net) have developed a robot that can predict the intentions of its human partner. This ability to anticipate (or question) actions could make human-robot interactions more natural.
