| WINDS-Caribe - EuroAfriCa Workshop in Jamaica |

18th - 19th of March 2009
The third WINDS-Caribe conference took place in the Gold Room at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge, The University of the West Indies, Jamaica on March 18-19, 2009. The Workshop brought together ICT researchers and stakeholders in the English-Speaking Caribbean region. The opportunities provided by the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) were presented and some project building sessions with partners and European Commission representatives were organised. The event was a collaboration between WINDS-Caribe and EuroAfriCa-ICT and was hosted by the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC), the WINDS local partner, and the Caribbean Academy of Sciences (CAS). 113 persons attended the conference from various sectors of the Caribbean. The objectives of the workshop were as follows: 1. Stimulate Awareness of and Capacity for submissions to the EU- FP7 Call and future Calls. Participants in the workshop included representatives from Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, St. Lucia, Anguilla, Belgium, Netherland Antilles, and Belize. They were drawn from universities and other educational institutions, various government ministries (Education, Telecommunications, Commerce, Industry, etc), financial institutions, and other public and private sector institutions/businesses.
